Parent Information
Daily Homework Folders: A Daily Homework Folder will be sent home each day containing your child’s homework and any important communication. Please be sure to look at it each night and return it the next day.
Friday Folders: Every Friday, your child will be bringing home a Friday Folder with work that was completed throughout the week. This folder will also include other pieces of information about things going on at school. After reviewing your child’s work, please empty the folder and keep the work at home. The folder should be sent back to school empty on Monday morning.
Homework: Every day, your child is responsible for recording their homework in their agenda. The Daily Homework Folder will contain any needed materials to complete the homework. Please be sure your child completes all of the homework included in the folder as it provides essential practice of the skills we are working on in the classroom. Homework will be checked in the morning as a class and will be sent home the same day that it was due. If your child is struggling with a math concept and you are unsure of how to help them, you can visit our SCES Homework Help Page for guidance on all of the strategies that we teach throughout the year.
Class Store: Students will be given tickets for Dojo Points earned in the classroom. They will be given the opportunity to shop with these tickets in the class store every Friday afternoon. Please remember the class store is a privilege and shopping at the store must be earned through positive behavior.
Lunch: Students will eat lunch at varying times throughout the school year. Please check the daily schedule for your child's current lunch time.
Snacks: Your child may bring in one healthy snack to eat during our snack time each day.
Birthdays: If you would like to eat lunch with your child on their birthday, you are more than welcome to do so. If you choose to bring a snack for the class, you will need to email me ahead of time in order for the appropriate communication regarding allergies to take place with the cafeteria staff. Additionally, any snacks shared with the class must be purchased from the store and cannot be homemade. Also, invitations will not be distributed at school. You can utilize our class directory to contact the families of the children that you wish to invite to any social gatherings.
Student Check In/Out: Please stop by the office to check your child in or out of school if he/she is tardy or leaving early. The office will call our room and your child will meet you in the lobby. Children will not be released from the room unless it has been cleared by the office first. Also, students may not be checked out after 2:30pm.
Transportation Changes: Please notify us of any transportation changes in the form of a note or a phone call to the office. If sent via e-mail, there is no guarantee that I will be able to check my e-mail before dismissal, which is why a note or phone call are preferred.
Bus Transportation: With the goal of improving safety a new practice has been implemented for the 2017-2018 school year. All PreK-5 students that ride a yellow bus will be tagged. If your student rides in the morning and/or afternoon they have to have a tag. The tag has to stay on their bag for the entire school year as well. If a tag is lost or misplaced, please let your teacher know immediately so the office can create another tag. The tag includes information about the student, bus name, location, grade, track and phone numbers. If you have any further questions please see Ms. Hartman, Mr. Hudson or Ms. Prosser in the front office.
Attendance: If your child is absent from school, please send a note in the day your child returns to school.
